East European Democratic Centre is an association and independent non-governmental organization that has been conducting its activities since 2001.

Initially, the main activities of the Association involved the continuation of the Belarusian program by the "Institute for Democracy in Eastern Europe" foundation (IDEE), which was initiated in 1994. In the following years, the scope and territorial range of the Centre expanded to include issues related to civil society and media freedom in other countries of the former USSR.

For 20 years we have been supporting civic circles in post-Soviet countries by introducing democratic changes through:

- comprehensive action for non-governmental organizations,
‍
- supporting the social activities of citizens,
‍
- working towards free access to information,
‍
- supporting charity and humanitarian activities.

We work in Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. Our activities target carefully selected groups in these countries. Our expertise and years of experience help to adapt our programs to local needs, and to the problems in a given region. Most projects are implemented in close cooperation with local partners –non-governmental organizations, informal groups, media, or institutions.
